Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was diagnosed in 1972 with holes in my heart and subsequently damage to my lungs and was treated as a baby and child at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
When I was a kid, the hospital had lots of support for me and were always supportive of my family, but Heartline go the extra mile to
support the whole family by providing benefits to children and young people which enable them to enjoy activities either alone or with their parents and siblings.
I had a heart and lungs transplant in 1988 when I was 16 years old. Afterwards I volunteered with Heartline as their Youth Co-ordinator and it was through organising sailing events for Heartline that I got the bug for sailing myself. So they have been pivotal in my love of the sea and sailing.
The money you help me to raise will go towards helping more heart children enjoy activities that others take more for granted. Specifically, to ensure that Heartline can deliver the three core parts of their strategy: to provide free wetsuits to ensure that children with compromised circulation can still enjoy swimming; to provide PGL activity holidays and to continue to offer subsidised caravan holidays for families.
I know from experience that supporting the whole family, not just the patient is incredibly important, especially for siblings who, despite the benefits of their good health can sometimes feel left out.
Please help me to break through my target and help
those families in hospital with their children with heart conditions.
