Story
“I cried. I joked. I walked. I hurt. I laughed. I ran. Life will never be quite the same again.” Tim Brown (Brathay 10in10 2017)
I did it - 10 marathons in 10 days. And we did it - over £7,000 raised to support the work of Brathay Trust in transforming young lives.
Thank you all so much - let's do it again sometime! Tim x
“An epic challenge that will require an epic strength of mind” Bear Grylls (adventurer)
"Sounds like a good idea then!" Tim Brown (running nutter)
In May 2017 I will be taking on what will undoubtedly be the toughest challenge of my life - running 10 marathons in 10 days around the beautiful Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Yes, that's 262 miles or 422 kilometres, 2,096 furlongs or 16.6 million inches. Whichever way you look at it, it's a long way. But for once I'm not really running it for me; I'm running it to support the work of the Brathay Trust.
I've been very fortunate throughout my life to have had the support of family and friends in everything I have done, no more so than in this epic 10in10 challenge. But so many children and young people, through no fault of their own, are left to struggle through life unsupported, resulting in poor choices and unfulfilled potential. The Brathay Trust do incredible work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people, helping them to make positive choices that will change their lives; be it overcoming barriers to work and education or transforming lives damaged by exploitation, criminality and abuse.
Being able to play a very small part in that work by raising much needed funds is a real pleasure - and I hope that you feel able to join me in this adventure. Your kind donations and words of encouragement will really help keep me motivated when the going gets tough and it starts to hurt (and it really will hurt!).
It all begins on 12 May 2017 and will finish ten days later on my 44th birthday (that's one way to celebrate I suppose).
Thank you
Tim x
