On the 24th/25th August 2013 I will be racing SOLO for 24 hours in the British 24 hour karting race held in Teesside. As far as I am aware I am only the third person to do this; it was done once previously in 2010 in the same race event.

I am doing this race to raise money for Cancer Research UK and in memory for my Grandma, Win, who sadly lost her life to lung cancer on 30/03/2013.

Every year Cancer Research UK receives potentially life-saving research proposals that they simply can't afford to fund.

• Around 325,000 people were diagnosed with cancer in 2010 in the UK - around 890 people every day, or one person every two minutes

• Cancer causes more than one in four of all deaths in the UK.

• In the UK in 2010, around 430 people died from cancer every day, that is one person every four minutes.

• More than one in five of all cancer deaths are from lung cancer.

• Worldwide, it is estimated that around 7.6 million people died from cancer in 2008.
