Story
I've been lucky enough to have two amazing baby boys in the last two and a half years. They're so alike and yet so different. One big similarity is that at 14 & 15 weeks old they both fell ill. There's nothing that has scared me more than seeing my tiny baby boys in such a state. Without going into too much detail they were looked after immensely well, professionally and with such care and dedication! They are now on the mend and receive fantastic after care and we regularly visit the kind staff on Children's ward and in outpatients for regular check-ups. There are a few things I noticed whilst on the children's ward one of which was equipment! They need things like specialist thermometers and I know the play workers would like a little extra money to get the resources they need to help children to get back on the mend quickly!
Anyone who has a child wants them to be cared for if, heaven forbid, they fell ill! So please help to provide them with some of the things they so desperately need, I feel they are overlooked as it is part of the NHS.
NB: (added 7th July 2015) I had decided to raise this money for the Children's Ward not expecting to be back in any time soon! I write this sitting in a chair on Carlisle's Children's Ward with my eldest son (2.5yrs) who has had a terrible infection and is very poorly! Again, the care and attention being received is superb and it has really proven to me why I am doing this. I spoke to the Sister and asked her what she needed for the ward and one of the things she mentioned was Pulse Oximetry Monitors. I also spoke to the Play Worker who expressed a need for toys that can be used to take into cubicles to help with children recovering through play. This is such an important part of helping children recover and pass the time if they're here for a long period. Please donate anything you can afford, all donations are greatly appreciated!
