Wow, thank you very much everyone - I've hit my target of £300 - which means including Sky's matching, £600 for Marie Curie Cancer Care (not including Gift Aid!) Thank you so much... Of course, I'm not giving up now though - all donations still very gratefully received: let's smash that target :-)
A few weeks ago, I hadn't run for anything more demanding than a bus since school PE lessons nearly (ahem) 20 years ago... Then I clearly got very, very drunk - and agreed to run the Bupa Great Manchester Run (10K) this May 15th.
I'm running in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Until recently, I'd been happily unaware that Marie Curie's nurses don't just provide care for cancer patients; they provide care for any terminally ill person, regardless of disease, in their own home. Marie Curie nurses have been a source of invaluable support to my friend Kerry and her family over recent months as her father battles with liver disease.
I hope you'll agree Marie Curie is a great cause, and will take the opportunity to donate through this 'ere JustGiving page!
As an added bonus: For every pound I raise up to £300, my lovely employer will match your donation!
Don't forget, it's not just about running the race - you can also enjoy the pain I'm putting myself through training for this thing... So if you don't think I'm up to it or just want to take pleasure in my agony - you can keep up with my training regime here and here.
Thanks in advance!
