Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will take part in the gruelling Lands End to John o’Groats route on the 15 July 2013; which is said to take most cyclists up to 14 days, i will attempt to complete it in 8 days. This route sees cyclists travel from essentially the most southern point of Great Britain to the most northern. This cycling challenge is new territory for me which will see me cover over 1000 miles, averging 125 miles each day.
I have chosen the’ Kick It Out’ charity as football is very close to my heart and I feel that I can help have a positive effect in a game played by millions. I hope that this bike ride will raise coverage of racism in football both locally in Gloucester and further afield. I hope by being a young adult I can help create awareness and show that young people do care about racism. This is a great opportunity for me to have a local and regional impact and highlight that racism is still a problem in football and general society.
Having previously climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, the world’s tallest standalone mountain, in December 2009, my prior experience should stand me in good stead. I believe this is a great opportunity to challenge my physical fitness once again and I’m happy that will benefit Kick It Out, in the process.
I will be cycling with my close friend Jamie Henley who is also raising money for his chosen charity ‘Help For Heroes’.
I hope to generate around £2500-£3000 for projects that educate young people about the effects of discrimination. So please any small amount you can spare would be truly appreciated.
Please follow me on twitter @timkbell and my charity @kickitout for updates on my training and the cycle itself. I will also have a youtube channel leading up to and during the cycle to keep you all updated.
Thanks for your time!
Tim
