I was a figure skater in my junior years and a canoeist in high school. Later I've discovered swimming, tennis, skying and rollerblading. I love rock climbing. I took part in triathlons and indoor cycling marathons. For the last 3 years, together with my fantastic colleagues, I managed to collect quite a few gold and silver medals in dragon boat competitions. I must admit I'm more of an adrenaline addict.
I'm not a gym freak. I prefer to exercise outdoors. I find running boring and rather difficult, but I prefer to think about it as a challenge.
Together with my friends, this year I joined TEAM HOSPICE and ended up running the first leg of the Bucharest Marathon Relay. It was hard, but I finished in 1h. We did it so we can raise money for Hospice Casa Sperantei and with the support of our friends, we managed to exceed our fundraising target.
I've met the Hospice team and volunteers about 6 years ago during an event. I immediately liked them. They were young and fresh, full of passion and energy. I've been a volunteer myself since 1994 for various NGOs and I understand what a vital role they play.
A bit over 3 years ago, all of a sudden my world collapsed. My amazing mother was diagnosed with cancer. Unfortunately, despite her healthy lifestyle and regular medical check-ups, we found out she's in a terminal phase. That's when I met again the Hospice team and volunteers. But this time it was personal. They helped the woman I loved the most cope with her condition, they helped me deal with my new reality. They came into my mother's life when she needed them and they stayed till the end.
For me Hospice is personal. I will always always support their projects. Even by doing something I find utterly boring and difficult like running. ;)
Hospice achieved great things in the last 3 years, since they started running summer camps in Adunatii Copaceni. But there is more to be done.
There is a need for an inpatient unit there, for a training center where parents can be thought how to look after their sick children.
I support this project because it will help improve lives.
If you’d like to make a donation to Hospice Casa Sperantei I’d be very grateful, as it will help them continue their amazing work. Thank you!
