Story
John Eldridge and I are riding the legendary La Marmotte sportive on July 3rd, 2010.
174km long and over 5,000 metres of climbing, taking on the four major climbs of Col du Glandon, Col de Telegraphe, Col du Galibier (2,646m) and the world famous climb up the 21 hairpins of Alpe d'Huez to finish.
We are raising money for the Cystinosis Foundation, which is a charity close to the hearts of both Johnny and myself as our great friend Milly Clare has the condition.
If you would like to know more about the condition visit the Cystinosis Foundation website at www.cystinosis.org.uk. Suffice to say it a condition that has no cure at present and a very small number of people are effected with it, which leads to little or no investment in the search for a cure. Every pound that we raise really does make a difference in either helping people who have Cystinosis deal with the condition, or pay for research into a cure for this hereditary illness.
This bike ride is recognised as the toughest one day sportive in Europe. The ride will take Johnny and I at least 10 hours and we will burn apprximately 10,000 calories (I know we could both do with it). It has taken a years worth or training and we are going to go through a lot of pain. So, get out that credit card and make a donation. It'll be a hell of a lot easier than what we are going to go through on July 3rd.
