Story
Theo developed a love for road cycling in the first lockdown in 2020 and since that time he has found an enthusiasm and endurance for hills (matched only by his ability to watch endless Global Cycling Network videos on YouTube!). He has decided to take on the impressive challenge of cycling the vertical height of Mount Everest, 8848 metres (hence the fundraising target!), whilst on a turbo trainer, known as vEveresting. He is training hard for it and anticipates that it will take him approximately 15-16 hours. The official rules of the challenge allow him breaks but no sleep....! If he succeeds he will be one of the youngest to do so.
Mark Cavendish (professional cyclist) says:
Having raised over £1500 for St Peter's Hospice with Maddie last year Theo would love to raise even more money for them this time. I have volunteered for the hospice for 3 years now and cannot emphasise enough the amazing work that they do and the support that is offered to patients, families and carers both at the inpatient unit and within the community.
St Peter's Hospice is Bristol's ONLY adult hospice caring for local people with life-limiting illnesses. Their commitment is to improve the quality of life of patients while extending care and support to their families and loved ones. All of their care is provided free of charge, but it costs around £20,000 a day to provide that care. For most of this money they rely on gifts in wills, donations, fundraising and their shops. As a result of the pandemic they have lost in the region of £2 million just from their shops but the need for their services hasn't diminished.
This is an ambitious fundraising target but I think it's matched by Theo's effort and determination to conquer vEveresting - please support him as generously as you are able to.
Thank you,
Fi, Nick, Theo and Maddie
