Story
8 years old, Creates Charity Book For NHS
Aimee Phillips, 8 years old, lives in Saltford has created and Illustrated a Book to raise money for the NHS.
It started on 1st January 2021, when at the age of 7, Aimee Phillips began to write and Illustrate, a book called โThe Very Hungry Honey Beeโ, in aid of NHS Charities Together, with the goal of raising ยฃ100, by her 8th birthday. Aimee will digitally publish her book and donate all proceeds to the charity; NHS Charities Together.
Aimee doesn't normally illustrate and write books but once wrote and illustrated a book for Christmas eve with a Notebook she owns, and decided to create the book to make as much money as possible for the health service while it is facing its' biggest challenge in living memory, tackling the Coronavirus pandemic.
Aimee told us that she likes to give herself challenges and the regular clap for the NHS on Thursdays inspired the creation. And her best friends, Zumba class grand appeal. And inspired by โThe Very Hungry Caterpillarโ is a children's picture book designed, illustrated, and written by Eric Carle.
She said:
"I loved it on a Thursday when everyone was out in their streets clapping on our key workers, so I thought why not write and illustrate a Book that people could read to show their love and appreciation for our hardworking keyworkers, all whilst raising money for the important NHS charities. It will also act as a little keepsake and a reminder of the tough times we've had and that it won't be forever."
The Book is Ebook, and Aimee will donate all proceeds equally between NHS Charities Together.
โIf you want to write a book like Author Aimee did, or do a writing-marathon - fantastic, if you want to write 100 words, great, if your toddler write their first words, amazing! We hope everyone will share their writing journeys using #WritewithAimee so we can support each otherโs achievements and work together to ensure next Week will be a good Week.โ
Author Aimee said: โI would like us all to stand shoulder to shoulder (metaphorically!). Letโs try not to get downhearted, we will get through this, whatever is thrown at us and together we can ensure that next Week will be a good Week.โ
What is the moral of The Very Hungry Honey Bee?
So here's the moral of the story. Change is inevitable in life. In fact, it's the only constant in this world. So it's HOW WE ADAPT TO CHANGE which sets each of us apart and defines who we are and how we live our lives.

About the Ebook
The Very Hungry Honey Bee is a children's book designed, illustrated, and written by Aimee Phillips. The book features a Bee Larva who eats her way through a variety of foodstuffs before pupating and emerging as a Beautiful Honey Bee.
The Very Hungry Honey Bee, simple text with educational themes - counting, the days of week, foods, and a Honey Bee's life stages. It teaches children how to count and to make one-to-one correspondences between numbers and the items the hungry Bee larva has eaten. The Bee larva's diet is fictional rather than scientifically accurate, but the book introduces concepts of Lepidoptera life stages where transformations take place including the ultimate metamorphosis from "hungry Bee larva" to " Beautiful Honey Bee", and it teaches children How Bees make Honey. Bees are not only extremely important for humans, but also for the entire ecosystems to function. As we know, bees allow plants to reproduce through Pollination. These plants contribute to the food system by feeding animals - aside from humans - such as birds and insects.
