Story
Now in our 7tth year, The Retro Run is
an annual charity bike ride using mainly old school, retro or vintage bikes we
used to ride as kids. Every year we try to raise as much money as possible for
our chosen charity. Last year we raised over £8000 for Motor Neurone Disease.
This year the chosen charity is Dodford Children’s Holiday Farm.
More information about the charity:
Dodford Childrens Holiday Farm
Dodford Children's Holiday Farm is
a small, local charity set up in 1950 to provide holidays for underprivileged
and disabled children up to 9 years of age. Many of the 800 children a
year who visit us come from inner city areas, others are from Sandwell,
Redditch and Bromsgrove. Most children come with their school and stay
for up to 5 days. We also have families staying with us in the
school holidays who have been referred for a holiday with us by social workers,
health visitors and doctors. Children come to play in the fresh, country
air, see our animals, have a donkey ride, go for walks and eat good home-cooked
food. We are reliant on donations from our visitors, the public and
charitable trusts but currently we are £1000 per month short of what we
need. We have a septic tank in need of replacing, leaky roofs on
outbuildings and we need more bathroom facilities so any help we receive is
really appreciated.
