Story
The Harvey Army are back!
“The Harvey Army” is a group of family and friends running the Great South Run in memory of Harvey Ashworth, aged 11, who died suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep on 18 July 2011. He had his whole life ahead of him and yet it was taken away so cruelly and suddenly.
He was a fantastic young man; he had a huge heart, boundless energy, the cheekiest grin and an unassailable spirit - he genuinely did believe and spent his time convincing others that anything was possible if you put your mind to it!
Harvey loved Naomi House Children's Hospice. If there was a chance to raise money, NH would be top of his list everytime. Whether it was arguing the case at school for NH to be the school's chosen charity, sponsored runs in Santa suits or waving big flags in support at the Great South Run.
We are supporting Naomi House as this was Harvey's favourite charity, please give as generously as you can. The Harvey Army will all run in pink shoelaces, and his big cheeky grin on our T-shirts. Hope it brings a grin to your face buddy, and I'm sure they'll be a few sprint starts for you too!
A team of over 30 people will be running the Great South Run on 28th October wearing as much pink as we can possibly find, including of course the pink shoe laces that we all wore at his funeral. Our team includes family and friends - most of whom never to ANY running - so please dig deep to support our team!
In his short 11 years, Harvey gave so much - and we thank you for giving back in his memory xxx
