Story

In Africa, 400,000 people die from Malaria every year. 200,000 of these are children. We wanted to help by raising money to buy mosquito nets to help protect those at most risk (young children, pregnant ladies, and the elderly). In 2020, 3rd St Albans Griffin Cubs raised over £1600 which enabled us to buy and distribute over 350 nets via Scouts Against Malaria to help protect those at most risk (young children, pregnant ladies, and the elderly).

The whole distribution was filmed (https://youtu.be/toVyP-EsEEg)
so we could share it with the parents and people that donated, and there is an audit trail of the money so that we can be 100% confident that all funds reached the right people and were spent appropriately.

We now want to raise £5,000 to save over 1,000 families from the risk of Malaria before the next rainy season, and we need your help to do it.

We're challenging every Beaver, Cub and Scout in the 3rds to plant 20 trees on 13th March (when we'll be helping Herts and Middlesex Wildlife trust plant 2,000 trees to create a new woodland near Batchwood) and ask as many family and friends as possible to sponsor them.

Please do help us to both save the planet, and save lives by supporting us in both of these fantastic causes.

Thank you so much
