Story
By supporting this appeal, you'll be helping displaced Afghan children to settle in London. Many are frightened and suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You can help them to make friends, have fun and forget what they have witnessed.
"We can't even open the windows for fresh air in the hotel. There are children who can't speak English and no where for them to play. There is nobody to hear their voice." - Afghan evacuee who was stuck in their hotel room for 20 days.
The situation.
Solidarity Sports is a charity that works with children recovering from trauma. Since the Taliban have taken over Afghanistan, many children and their families fled for their lives and have arrived in London. Children who have witnessed awful events have been cooped up in hotel rooms. Some are unaccompanied minors with no relatives in the country. This environment is not healthy. They are scared, lonely and afraid. They need our support.
What can we do?
We are fundraising to provide the displaced Afghan children in Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea with an opportunity to access healthy activities. These activities will help the families feel welcome, reduce isolation, integrate with society and provide a much needed distraction from their suffering. We will be picking up the children from their hotels and taking them to enjoy some of the delights that London has to offer, such as parks, museums and trampolining.
How YOU can help.
We are calling all those who stand in solidarity with refugees to contribute to this vital cause. We urge you to donate generously and help us provide these activities to those in desperate need. Thank you.
