Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for the NCT East London Big Push 2015.
The Big Push is a fun, accessible 5k walk / buggy push to raise funds & awareness of postnatal depression & isolation in new parents. This is a flagship event for NCT and everyone is welcome, bring along friends, family, buggies & scooters as we enjoy walking through the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on September 13th.
All money donated to the East London Big Push campaign will be used to develop and improve services to counter postnatal depression and isolation in new parents including training for volunteers, support group development and projects to support people to spot symptoms and signs earlier.
It is estimated that 1 in 10 women experience Postnatal Depression. This form of depression can happen gradually or all of a sudden, and can range from being relatively mild to being extremely hard-hitting.
Our three key campaign messages to new parents are
1.Its ok to say ‘I'm not ok’ or
I’m not coping', to raise
awareness that Postnatal Depression is common but yet the stigma and shame
attached to it stops women and new parents from speaking out and getting help.
2. To understand the symptoms of PND - making them explicit and clear and how
to see the symptoms in friends, family and other new parents.
3. What to do, how to get help, the beginning of getting well again, speaking
up to Health visitors, Doctors, specialised Charities, Helplines, NHS services,
family or friends.
The campaign is being led by NCT Newham and is a consortia of local and London based NCT Branches working together to get the key messages out far and wide - please share with friends and get people to join and help reach our ambitious fundraising target of £10,000 – it’s for EVERYONE
“All money donated to NCT’s East London Big Push is for the purpose of developing and improving NCT Postnatal services”.
We appreciate your donation very much and hope to see you at the East London Big Push on September 13th
