Story

On Sunday 22nd April my brother Mark and I will be running in the London Marathon.

This will be my 5th London Marathon though my first was in 1989 so I have sensibly built in a long recovery period between each attempt. Somewhat remarkably, Mark has competed in every London Marathon since 1995 creating an unbroken sequence that this year will extend to 18 years. It will be his 20th London Marathon in all.

We have decided to run for Team PB. There is barely a single family, workplace or club in the entire country that is not impacted by either Breast Cancer or Prostate Cancer and the money that Team PB raises will help support some truly inspirational people.

Every single penny that is pledged on our Just Giving page will inspire us to try harder on London Marathon day so thank you for your kind donations.

The Prostate Cancer Charity and Breast Cancer Care have teamed up joint official charities for the 2012 Virgin London Marathon. Together we are TeamPB! Our goal is to recruit our biggest team to date and to raise £1 million to help change the lives of those affected by prostate and breast cancer. Prostate cancer and breast cancer are the most common cancers in men and women respectively in the UK today. This year 37,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 50,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Combined, more than 750,000 people are living with these two cancers in the UK right now. By running together we can raise more awareness and more money to support the more than 750,000 people living with these two cancers in the UK right now. Donations and Gift Aid made to the Team PB JustGiving pages will be split 50/50 between both charities.
