Story
Jason Michael Somers was a cherished partner, father, son, brother, uncle, grand-dad and a great friend to so, so many. A 'top-man', 'such a nice bloke', 'cracking lad' and 'all-round nice fella' are just some of the warm comments received after his unexpected passing.
Jay was kind and compassionate and completely selfless - always putting the needs and care of others above his own. From chopper & BMX bikes, to graffiti tags (Some1) and raving to Indie, Ska or Dance -Jay lived and loved life and always wanted 'just one more for the road'.
A feeling of general un-wellness at the end of October 2021 led to a diagnosis of Dermatomyositis , a rare auto-immune disease which sadly, in his particular case, quickly accelerated into interstitial lung disease. He died peacefully on 11 February 2022 surrounded by love. He was 51 years old.
Not much is known about this rare disease and our family are committed to raising vital funds and awareness to ensure more research is undertaken into this rare condition so that others can be supported with more positive outcomes. We are asking for those who would like to remember Jay to donate to Myositis UK, a small charity started over 30 years ago to fund research to improve diagnosis and treatment.
Go fly high Jay and we'll always ensure we toast you with 'just one more for the road'. We love you xxx
