Thaddeus' Her Planet Earth Son Doong Cave Expedition

Her Planet Earth Son Doong Cave Expedition · 11 December 2018
“If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.” The irony of Margaret Thatcher’s words was not lost on me as I took the stage to speak at an event to launch a WOMEN ON A MISSION trek across the Jordanian desert to end violence against women. I arrived as the inspirational speaker and I departed fully inspired by a group of women who were taking action and walking their talk.
Half a decade later, the inevitable has happened.
Maybe it was my relentless appeals to join every all-female team on their Women on a Mission and Her Planet Earth expeditions around the world, including Siberia, Bhutan and Antarctica. Maybe it was my being a sometimes-noiseless-sometimes-vociferous supporter of the women and their leader Christine Amour-Levar. Or maybe it was simply the copious amounts of soy milk I’ve been drinking and now this plant-based estrogen is beginning to take effect.
I am now an ambassador for HER Planet Earth, because it’s important to me to know that we have male champions supporting our cause too. And despite the very feminine name that we have the "HER” in HER Planet Earth does not signify that it’s just our responsibility as women to protect our planet, but rather that it is women who are the most vulnerable to climate change and thus they are the ones who we need to support and help the most to overcome this challenge.
