Fundraising for The Sick Children's Trust
Please read Megan's story below;
Hello my name is Megan Sheniz Onbashi; I gave my mummy and daddy a surprise when I was born 5 weeks early in January 2010. Unfortunately because of the horrible cold snowy weather and all the coughs and colds going round, and being premature and tiny, I became life threateningly ill on a couple of occasions and needed to go into hospital so they could help me get better.
When I was only 6 weeks old I needed to spend time at () in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) as I had to be on a ventilator. My mummy and daddy were very worried about me and didn’t know where they would stay whilst I was in hospital. A kind lady called Joy works for the Sick Children’s Trust and looks after Acorn House - accommodation at the hospital where families can stay to be close to their sick children and babies. Joy told my mummy and daddy that they were able to stay at Acorn House for the whole time I was in PICU, they were also able to carry on staying there when I got transferred to the children’s ward C3 after coming out of intensive care and started to get better. My mummy and daddy were very grateful to have a room at Acorn House as it meant they were very close by and could spend time with me every day, talking to me and giving me lots of kisses which helped me get better. Without a place like this other mummies, daddies and families would struggle at a time when they are already very distressed due to their child being so poorly. The Sick Children’s Trust don’t charge families to stay at these houses so need people to donate money so they can carry on providing a place to stay. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help my daddy and Team Genie raise as much money as possible from their bike ride so they can give it to The Sick Children’s Trust and help other families stay close to their children too. Thank you very much,Megan x x x
