Story
We are the Team Ward of NCS's Guilford Wave 2 2017.
We feel that the stigma faced by those with mental illnesses, with people feeling like it is used as an excuse and that people can recover from it with ease, is absolutely unjust.
One in four people have a mental health problem, but many more have a problem with that.People should not be expected to deal with a problem like this on their own, just like how you would not expect someone with a heart condition to get better alone.
So we have decided to take action against this.
As a group, we have decided to partner up with the Hopewell House of Together UK in order to run a 5 hour long activity day for the residents consisting of yoga, decorating baked cookies, painting and other activities to provide an enjoyable experience to members of Hopewell's House.
Hopewell House is a project of the charity Together UK and is located near Guildford's town centre which focuses around providing all around care and support to adults diagnosed with mental illnesses, having an accommodation able to hold 10 people. They aim to improve the independence of those with mental illnesses, allowing them to achieve personal goals during their stay. Their goals of bettering the lives of those with mental health have really inspired us as a team.
This page's aim is to raise money to help with the day to day running costs of Hopewell House, and any small donation that you could make would be highly appreciated by us and the charity.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
