Story

Our team event sounded so exciting in the beginning! Now as the event draws ever closer, our intrepid bunch of 8 cyclists, are ever more aware of the challenge that lies ahead!

On Tuesday 8th May, our team, led by Andy Pennell, plus Paul Codling, Kevin Eardley, Andy Loughrie, Sarah Leatherbarrow, Bruce Shepherd, Andy Sykes & James Cartmell, set off from Stockport, for Lands End, to begin the 1000+ mile bike journey to John o' Groats over the following 22 days.

All are members of the Stockport Community Cycling Club, though non have attempted such a ride as this before. So you will forgive us for being a little nervous about the journey ahead.

We have chosen to support The Beechwood Cancer Care Centre in our endeavours. They are a locally based charity, in Stockport, and their mission is to help anyone who's life has been affected by the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Their website address is http://www.beechwoodcancercare.org.uk/

Our planning has been meticulous, since, for much of the way, we are carrying all of our own "luggage" with us, right down to the last toothbrush! One of our team will not be shaving, to cut down on unnecessary weight. (No! that's not Sarah!). We will of course keep you updated, through this website page, and also on www.polkadotdp.com (Polkadot Design & Print), a local design & print company who are kindly sponsoring the team by providing their cycle shirts for the journey - hence "team polkadot".

So please, do support us and this very worthy cause. It will mean such a lot to us, and especially to those who are receiving support from Beechwood Cancer Care at this time, and of course in the future.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
