This year, we have decided to run the Ignis Asset Management 10K to raise money for SANDS (Stillborn and Neonatal Death charity), in memory of Luca Cardona who was born sleeping on 28th June 2010.

Sands is a national charity, established by bereaved parents in 1981 who aim to:

1) Support anyone affected by the death of a baby

2) Work in partnership with health professionals to improve the quality of care and services offered to bereaved families

3) Promote research and changes in practice that could help to reduce the loss of babies' lives

Each year, 6500 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth. Each year, thousands of devastated parents, families and friends are left asking the same question, why? In response to this, Sands launched the Why17? campaign. Through the campaign Sands hopes to raise the awareness of these unacceptable levels of baby loss, create a national strategy to reduce the number of babies dying and generate vital funds for research.
