Story
A group of us are once again running the Great North Run - one of the biggest half marathons in the world - in order to raise money for the amazing charity that is now known as Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research). In the recent years I have come to know too many individuals who have been diagnosed with this disease - some have fought and won, some are fighting, and heartbreakingly some have lost the battle to cancer. Our money is crucial to charities like Bloodwise to help fight cancer - they may one day be helping you.
We aim to raise as much money as possible to help fund research into early diagnosis, treatment and care of those diagnosed with this truly awful blood cancer and their families. This is our seventh year of fundraising for Bloodwise and we are pleased to have raised in excess of £10,000 to date and would like to continue giving to this amazing charity. I would like to thank all those who have supported myself, my cousin Sarah and the ever expanding team of runners and the charity over the years - your generosity is much appreciated!
Runners for Team GNR 2016 are:
Sarah, Amy, Kim, Anna,
Jamie, Rhys, Ben
Unfortunately a friend who ran the GNR in 2014, Jayne, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and is currently undergoing treatment at the Christie NHS Foundation in Manchester. Jayne has received lots of help and support from the Christie charity; and so this year our team will be raising money for the the Christie charity as well as Bloodwise so as to give something back for all their help.
