Story

Not ones to sit around, we are onto the next! We are so close to nearly £8,000, it's incredible, we hope by completing Newbury 10k on Sunday 13 May 2012.... we'll reach the next milestone. Simon the speed demon, the Matt-Daddy, Allan the awesome, Neily 4-kidneys, Dave the shiny-new-destroyer and I - Tracey, are the team. If you can dig out some spare coins or a note or two amongst the pocket fluff it would be hugely appreciated by everyone involved.

Motor Neurone Disease was something we knew very little about until September 2010 when our mum, Lorraine Jones, was sadly diagnosed with it.

MND is a progressive disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. At present there is no cure or treatment for this cruel disease. It is rare so there is very little funding for research.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association do a great job of supporting people with this disease and also support their family and friends. They can provide day to day support as well as loaning important pieces of equipment that help make life for sufferers easier. We have chosen to donate our money to the Oxford branch of the MNDA as it is local to us and will be the one that we will be using.

Following our success in taking part in the Reading Half Marathon, Team Diddy has snowballed into a team of friends and family who are not content to leave it at that but have decided to raise our game, increase our fundraising target and undertake all sorts of feats, activities, challenges, dares and world record challenges to raise awareness, money and support for the MNDA and for the Jones family. Over the coming months you can chart our progress on Twitter and Facebook where we will keep you informed on how you can get involved, the fun stuff you can take part in, and the serious stuff you can do to help.
