Story
A group of friends from Tideswell are fundraising throughout 2022 to raise money for Ashgate Hospice. This is to celebrate our kind, funny, inspirational friend Claire McKenzie who has been taken from us way too early by peritoneal cancer.
Each of us will take on a challenge through the year, and we'll tell you all about each of them here. There'll be walking, running, cakes and much, much more. Please give very generously - Ashgate Hospice do an amazing job!
CHALLENGE 6: (complete) Pete cycled from Cork (where Claire grew up) back to Tidza in September. You can find his dedicated fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Pete-Hawkins-Cork-Tideswell
CHALLENGE 5: (complete) Lynn will be diving in and swimming the distance of the River Wye in Derbyshire. That's 24km. (Note that she won't actually be swimming in the River Wye - but in local swimming pools instead!).
CHALLENGE 4: (in progress) Suzanne is combining running with rowing and travelling the distance between Land's End and John o'Groats. That's 874 miles. That's a lot of (virtual) rowing and running!!
CHALLENGE 3: (complete). Suzanne will be doing a virtual row across the Channel and back (78,000 metres) during March.
CHALLENGE 2: (complete). Fi, Alice, Ged, Rob, Peter and Beth will all be taking part in Ashgate's High Peak Trail walk on Sunday 13th March.
CHALLENGE 1: (complete). Walking from Tideswell to London (virtually). Carrie will walk 150 miles in 28 days - the distance from Tideswell to her old workplace in Soho between 14th Feb and 14th March. That's an average of just over five miles a day - come rain, hail or snow (very likely in Tidza!!).
