Story
Since 2006, Team Tesfa has offered opportunity to
long-distance athletes in Addis Ababa, opportunities for education and
vocational skills while they continue to train and compete among the very best teams in Ethiopia.
Innovative projects among have included:
- the WALL program, internships for women athletes in schools and
libraries - vocational training and counselling among women athletes
- leadership programs in which male athletes mentored teenage boys in job training
- a teen shelter for the youngest and most vulnerable
The first time I ran the Bath Half Marathon to raise funds
for the Team -- in 2010 -- I set my personal record – 1:38 – a record I’ve never beat.
I’m returning to the same race in 2017, and I’m setting myself
the challenge – beat that record.
Support me in my pledge. Donate! Help me reach my goal of £2,000
for Team Tesfa. Success will give me wings. I will be inspired by your generosity. If 200 people give only £10 each, I'm there! That's only 134 people donating £15 each!
BUT SHOULD I NOT MEET MY TARGET, I make you this additional pledge:
The next time I am in Ethiopia, I will take to the track. I pledge -- carrying one of the athletes on my back – I will run a sub-10 100m. I will video-tape and broadcast this feat for all Team Tesfa supporters to see. It’ll be yuge!
Please donate! Every £10-20 helps. Please support us as we make
a difference in the lives of these hard-working athletes! I’ll be posting
stories about our athletes here.
