Story
We have been inspired to complete this challenge for James Hessey Sarcoma Fund. In March 2013, James Hessey, a dear friend, sadly lost his battle to Epithelioid Sarcoma. This is a rare and aggressive type of cancer. We hope to support the fantastic work of Sarcoma UK whom strive to raise sarcoma awareness to initiate change and improve standards of treatment and care, support ongoing research development whilst actively supporting and providing information to the sarcoma community.
Who We Are
We are a team of five enthusiastic friends who have come together with a common cause – to try to achieve something amazing in order to fundraise for three fantastic causes. James Hessey Sarcoma fund being one of these. We have little open water swimming experience and so for each of us this will be an enormous personal and emotional challenge, requiring months of dedicated training and planning
Our Challenge…
As a team we will swim in a relay formation from Dover to Calais across the English Channel in August 2015. We will hire a boat and support crew to safely plan and navigate our route as we each take a leg on the long journey. It is anticipated to take us between 12 and 17 hours dependent on water current and our speed! We want this to be a registered Channel Swim crossing and so will be doing it with only our swim suits!
