Story
Tony's Team is made up of two local businesses KDW Financial Services and The Kelly Group the UK's leading national telecommunications and utilities provider. The Team comprises of Alan O'Reilly, Larry McGrane, Hugo Sweeney, Mark Lemon, Gerry Powell, Marcus Maisey and Gary Cretton. The Team will be cycling 500kms from London to Paris. They are riding to "make Myeloma history".
We chose to raise money for Myeloma UK as it has a personal connection to the Team. In 2012 KDW's Commercial Director Lawrie Jellows’ father in law, Tony Farquharson, was diagnosed with Myeloma. He remains an inspiration to those that meet him and even finds time to help other patients as a support group leader, so we feel it only fitting that the Team be named after him.
Myeloma UK is the only UK charity dealing exclusively with Myeloma. They do not receive any government funding and rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising activities; so they really need our support!
Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a cancer of plasma cells in the bone marrow. It affects places where bone marrow is active, the bones of the spine, skull, pelvis, rib cage, the long bones of the arms and legs, the areas surrounding the shoulders and hips and the immune system.
