Story
There is no secret that I was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. And it is taking some getting used to! To many, it is not that obvious. But those who know me well will have noticed the changes in my physical condition and, whilst I hardly dare admit it, my general well-being.
Now is not the time, nor am I expert enough to get into the details of what Parkinson's Disease is all about, but suffice it to say that I am relatively young to have it, and my condition is very mild compared to most others. All I need to do, is take two pills a day, and carry on as normal! So I am lucky indeed, and there are many out there who are much worse off than I am, but the reality is that I'm not going to get better. However with treatment my situation will not deteriorate that quickly either.
Once one has got over the shock of being diagnosed with what is after all a chronic disorder, one instantly reaches out for people to help you. And there are plenty of them around. There are great number Parkinson's sufferers at-large, so there are many people who know all about what it really means to either have Parkinson's or care for someone with Parkinson's. Whilst we sufferers take great, great strength from such people and friends, it is charities such as the Cure Parkinson's Trust which provide the extra support needed and promote research which, in addition to the excellent service provided by the National Health Service, make the future for people like me significantly brighter.
Thank you for your support.
