Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in memory of my much loved Mam and Best Friend - Janet Wrightson.
On 5th September 2014 my world fell apart when my precious Mam fell asleep forever after a very courageous 3 year battle with Cancer. In her last few months we were fortunate to have the services of the Macmillan Nurses who were truly fantastic and became more like Friends to us, who we knew we could rely on for support and advice.
My Mam's wish was for donations to be made to Macmillan in lieu of funeral flowers and this has encouraged me to keep both her memory and wish alive by fundraising myself this year to try and raise an additional £1000 and I have chosen two significant dates to do it on:
Sunday 7th June 2015 - her 58th Birthday
I will celebrate her birthday by taking part in the Gateshead 5k Race for Life whilst raising money to help others who are still battling Cancer
Saturday 5th September 2015 - her 1st Year Memory
I am in the process of organising a 'Celebration of Life' charity event in her memory with live music, raffles etc at Cheers Club in Sunderland with tickets on sale from July
Macmillan statistics state that there are an estimated 2.5 million people in the UK today (2015) who have had a Cancer diagnosis. This is an increase of almost half a million in the previous five years and by the end of 2016 it is estimated that more than a thousand people will be diagnosed with Cancer in the UK everyday and around 160,000 people in the UK die from Cancer every year.............
Macmillan spend over £121 million a year on providing specialist services to people affected by Cancer and majority of this is generated through fundraising so any donation you make will make a difference.
Thank You for taking the time to read my story and hopefully this has inspired you to make a small donation to help those who need it most who are currently fighting the awful disease that is Cancer!!
Tara xx
