Story
The estimated number of people directly bereaved by suicide each year is around 34,000. On 10 September I am taking on the 34k Challenge for Suicide&Co, with a fundraising target of £1000, so that together we can raise £34,000 to help Suicide&Co to continue to achieve their mission of supporting individuals bereaved by suicide, and provide people with counselling sessions through Suicide&Co's Counselling Service.
Suicide&Co. were one of the first charities my family spoke to following my sister, Sophie's, suicide in 2020, and they have been amazing at supporting us not just through our grief but when setting up The Sophie Clarke Foundation. They're utterly amazing and offering invaluable support to people whose lives have been turned upside down, torn to pieces and scattered all over the place.
I will be tackling the 34km on foot - half running, half walking. I thought this would be the perfect chance to try and turn myself into a runner before I need to start training for my half marathon next April, whilst adding a fundraising element for a charity that means a lot to me. It's worked (so far)! I never thought I’d say the words, but I really like running. I can genuinely hear Sophie saying “I’ve been waiting for this to happen!!”
I am hugely grateful for any donations to support this amazing charity and give me a little encouragement along the way!
