Story
Exactly a year ago I had a grade 4 glioblastoma (brain tumour - AKA "Bob the Blob") removed, the prgnosis for which is very poor. Despite it being the biggest cancer killer in under 40s and in children it receives a pittiful 0.7% of research fundraising. I want to raise awareness and funds to put this right. I have spent the last year having radiotheraphy and chemotherapy and at present my scan is clear. Hooray! But I will have three monthly scans for evermore as the oncologists (unlike me) are expecting Bob to return. Apart from a minor speech (and spelling) defect, I have no symptoms so I see no reason why I should not run (stagger) 5K through mud, grass, water, up hills, down ditches, over and under and through obtacles. If I can do this you can too!
Please donate, support me and my friends. We we are doing an 11 mile canal walk on 24th september along with a load of others, some of whom have cancer, some of whom care for people with brain cancer and many of whom will have lost someone to brain cancer. Join in (it will be great fun... A pub at each end!) or come along and support on the day, raise some funds of your own or help in some other way ...or all of the above.
Cross posting on FB or other social media helps spread the world.
I am very keen to raise awareness and funds for reseach but I am equally passionate to encourage sufferers and their loved ones that "you CAN get through this, you CAN outlive those horrible statistics and you can find joy and hope in this crazy journey.
