I'm raising money for the Huntington's Disease Association as they have helped my family deal with the HD for 2 generations.  Huntington's is a neurodegenerative disorder, which leaves your loved one's motor skills and cognitive abilities to decline until they can no longer function. Everyday life is impaired as even talking or swallowing becomes difficult and eventually becomes a hazard to the person suffering Huntington's. This disease on average starts showing when you are 40 and goes on until death. This disease is genetic and runs in my family. Offsprings have a 50% chance of getting the disease, and this can be diagnosed before birth. It has massively impacted my family as my mother was a brave carer for her mother and 30 years later has been a carer for my aunt whom also has Huntington's. So for everybody who has Huntington's and for their families that support them, I have chosen to raise funds for the charity. No cure has been found and further research is needed so future generations like myself and my children will be able to deal with this disorder effectively. In order for this research to be conducted, funding is needed- this is why I need your help. I will be sky-diving to raise money for the HD charity. 

For my third year of my Psychology BSc degree, I am also conducting research into the affects of Huntington's on the quality of life- how driving, swallowing and speech makes every day tasks more difficult and the psychological affects this frustration may cause. In my summer holidays I will be helping out with the Parkinson's UK charity, a neurological disorder which also affects the operation of motor skills.
