I met my friend Becky when we were about 12 or 13 years old. We did athletics together, rode her horses (me very badly!) and kept in touch through our college years .Becky and Ian got married 3 weeks before us in the same church after they came back from Australia in 1992. They emigrated about 18 years ago and had a wonderful life in Australia with their 2 sons.
In 2012 Becky found out she had quite a rare type of cancer but had treatment for it and seemed to have conquered the disease. She came back to England twice last year - by herself in May and with the family in October. It was wonderful to see her looking so well. Her hair was growing back and she seemed so positive. Becky and Ian took the boys to New York before they went back to Australia and she started to have terrible back ache. The cancer had returned.
This time the doctors said it was untreatable and incurable. She had radiotherapy to try to contain the cancer and was unbelievably brave. Becky lost her battle with cancer on 5th March 2014 aged 46 years. She had such a zest for life and this terrible disease has robbed us all of a wonderful person.
