Story
Hi, im Tamara and I am a Psychology Fresher at the University of Bath.
I have been offered an amazing opportunity to partake in this forthcoming event where In June 2015 I will join a group of 40 students from the university and will travel to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the worlds tallest free standing mountain at 5985 m!
In doing so I am going to raise money for The Children's Society. This will be a huge challenge for me but in the process I hope to raise a lot of money for an amazing charity.
Founded in 1881 The Children's Society help change children's stories, they work to create a country where all children are free from disadvantage. Their work tackles child poverty and neglect straight on; helping child runaways, young carers and families trapped in debt.
£7 each week could support a child who might otherwise fall outside of the education system and give them the skills they need to fulfil their potential through a peer-mentoring programme.
£15 could pay for an hour’s support out in the community for a disabled young person.
£50 could pay for a programme worker to spend three hours supporting a young person seeking asylum to access education, health care or to take part in a supportive youth activity.
£500 could pay for a residential weekend for five young carers, giving them independence, new skills and great friendships.
