As many of you are aware, my little girl Lucy has a Chromosome abnormality (terminal deletion of the long arm of chromosome 11). My husband and i did not find this out until after Lucy was born, but during my pregnancy Dr Archer and Dr Manning detected a heart condition which showed that Lucy had many holes in the heart and that when she was born her Aorta would collapse almost immediately.
This meant that within two days of Lucy being born she had to undergo major heart surgery to repair her heart using the main artery from her left arm. This was performed by Prof. Stephen Westaby.
Lucy is almost five now and the holes in her heart have closed and the surgery to her Aorta was successful.
Due to the many problems associated with the chromosome abnormality we are regulars at the JR Hospital visiting Cardiology, Paediatrics, Orthoptics, Genetics and Orthopaedics.
I would dearly love to give something back for all the amazing work that the Doctors and staff have done for Lucy over the last five years and probably for many years to come.
So i am going to jump off a very tall building (with ropes attached!) to hopefully raise some money for The Heart Centre Campaign.
