In 2010, my friend Paola was diagnosed with lung cancer, without ever having smoked a day in her life. Within four months from diagnosis, she had left behind her husband, daughter, and son. She passed away the day after her son's first birthday. 

Paola spent her final hours in comfort and with dignity in the care of staff at St Peter's Hospice, Bristol.
