Story

We extend a very warm thank you to each of our special wedding guests for joining us and showering us with your blessings as we start our life together.

We believe that we have been extremely fortunate and would like to share this joyous occasion with the children of Baale Mane.

Baale Mane is a loving home for girls in Bangalore, India who have overcome extreme deprivation to survive, thrive and aspire. Most of the children have been abandoned or rescued from child labour or domestic violence and whose parents cannot take care of them. The project started in 2001 as a shelter for girls by the Paraspara Trust whose mission it is to make the slums of Bangalore free of child labour. Much has been achieved since then: the girls have a permanent home; improved nutrition; health care, access to education and participate in decisions that affect them.

100% of your donations will go directly to the girls and pay for: healthy nutritious food that includes fresh vegetables from their own garden; regular health checkups including dental and eye checks; medical treatment; counselling to help them recover from their traumas; education at local schools and colleges; out of school support; a new library and experiences that show them the possibilities for careers in the global world.

You can help girls like Devi, Madhumala and Manjula live inspiring stories of hope:

- Devi, dreams of dancing all over the world. She has been with Baale Mane for 9 years and has struggled with school but is a gifted dancer, she has just been accepted for training in Odissi (an Indian classical dance form) with Nrityagram a world renowned dance school

- Madhumala aspires to be a doctor. She was rescued from the streets after being thrown out of her home having been burnt badly, she has just finished school with a first class and needs more surgery while she continues with her studies

- Manjula just 8 with a bright smiling face needs surgery for her cleft lip and looks forward to a happy healthy childhood.

It is estimated that 11m children have been abandoned in India and 90% are girls for whom every day is a struggle for survival.

Your individual support to the Baale Mane project will go a very long way and make a big difference. Especially since the money raised from this project will go straight to helping these extremely underprivileged girls and not be swallowed up in administration or running costs of any kind.

We thank you once again for your generosity.
