Story
3 weeks later Sarah will be heading out to Morocco to trek 100 miles across the Sahara Desert over 5 days. She will be trekking from
Ouarzazate to Oulad Driss via Sidi Naji (said to be the place of the holy man) making her way over some of the Sahara's largest sand dunes at Erg Zaher, camping each night under the stars.
Trossachs SAR have been operational for 24 years and rely solely on public donations and the generosity of our sponsors to remain operational. All members are volunteers, there are no paid staff. Our running costs each year exceed £40,000.
Our Urban Search And Rescue dogs attend callouts throughout Scotland to collapsed structures for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and attend missing person callouts for Police Scotland. Our dogs and handlers have been called out to hundreds of incidents over the past 24 years including the Stockline factory explosion, the Clutha pub helicopter tragedy and recently to a house explosion in Ayr.
Our human volunteers attend First Responder callouts on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service, deliver Community CPR classes free of charge to local groups, attend out of hours MECS calls on behalf of Stirling Council enabling service users to live independently and safely in their own homes, maintain a network of over 120 Public Access Defibrillators ensuring they are ready to be used in an emergency, and provide safety and first aid cover for events all over the Central Belt.
We are on call 24hrs a day, 365 days a year.
We know times are tough for so many people right now with the cost of living ever increasing. Your donation of any amount will help us continue our lifesaving work. Thank you.
