Story
As many of you know I am mom to two amazing kids, one of which is a bubbly and bright 6 (six) year old who lights up any room he is in, has a personality bigger than his small frame and loves his family and friends fiercely...Alex!
If you’ve met Alex then you know he does not know a stranger, but you would never know he has genetic disorder. Like thousands of other families, we have silently dealt with the stresses and unknowns that comes from a genetic disorder. Alex was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia (DBA), and since that day it has been a race to understand what was ahead of us, educate myself on the disease and fight for the health of my sweet baby boy.
I count myself among the blessed to have a loving family, supportive village and the resources to get my son the proper care he needs to thrive; however, it’s not lost on me that there are thousands of families who suffer in silence from often life altering genetic disorders with none of the above.
This is why I’ve chosen to raise money and run for Genetic Disorders UK in the 2019 London Marathon! Genetic Disorders UK is a phenomenal charity dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families living with genetics disorders. They do this by providing resources and support directly to those in need.
I invite you to follow me on my journey to advance awareness for this cause and I am asking you to help me help families know they aren’t running this race alone!
Donate today and give a voice to a silent disease.
My family and I thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!
