We help local people in Kenya gain access to education, raised incomes, & clean water

Story

The aim of this project is to build a fully equipped secondary school for 200 deaf children in Riandu, Kenya. It is an initiative from the local Mothers Union to combat the need of education for deaf children within Kenya which we, in association with the Peter Cowley Africa Trust, were invited to help with. The work will be done in a collaboration between UK charities and the local community of Riandu. The Project Leader is Peter Macnaughton, a third year Architect student at the University of Nottingham. Samantha Worrall, an experienced specialist schools architect, is working towards overseeing the design team. There will be a core team of project organisers as detailed in section 5. The project is working with PCAT, the Peter Cowley Africa Trust, a UK based charity that works with grass-roots projects within Kenya. The build will take place over three summers in carefully planned stages, with volunteers from the UK and local builders.

Our aim is to raise £2000 for the project, hopefully this will be done with your help; a lot of car boot sales, sponsored sportsy things, and anything else we can think of along the way. All being well we'll also be going out to join the build for the 4 weeks in August and September - this is not where your money will be spent though! any money raised on this just giving page will go DIRECTLY to the charity and will not be paying for our flights or accomodation or suncream.
