Story
Hi everyone. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
I'm Ashley Broomhall and this is my little story about why i'm doing this and just what i'm planning.
First of all the Why?
A few weeks ago my mum found a lump while doing a self exam. She headed down to the Doctors and then was sent off to hospital where she had many tests done before being told the news. She had cancer. The good news in this is that she caught it early and that she will be going for a operation to remove it in a few weeks time. We have everything crossed and my mum is a fighter so we just know she'll get through this.
I wanted to do something to help and so i had a good think about what i could do. After a bit i came upon a idea and ran with it.
Now for the What?
As stated in the title i am planning on climbing Ben Nevis while dressed as a Stormtrooper from Star Wars. I will also be carrying a 501st legion flag with me as well.
I am TK-3440 of the UK Garrison, which is part of the 501st Legion the largest costuming group in the world. The 501st has over 7000 members in over 50 countries. I alongside 350 other members of my garrison attend events in are spare time to raise money for charity.
The UKG membership is made up of passionate volunteers who fund and create there own costumes, adhering to the minute detail to ensure are costumes are movie accurate, and who endeavour to stay in character at all time.
We are extremely proud of are charity work, which underpins what we do. The UK Garrison is a not-for-profit organisation. When we attend events we do so to support their fundraising on the day. 100% of the money we raise from attending is shared by the UKG supported charities at the end of the year.
I have my own movie accurate stormtrooper costume and have attended many events while dressed as it. Most of my free time is spent either at events or building new costumes for events.
The image at the top of the page is me out of armour with the flag i will be carrying to the top of Ben Nevis. I have planned to do this in the last week of June. It will be a challenge but to help fight this disease i will do anything.
Again thank your for you time
Regards
