On 10th April I completed the Marathon des Sables, 250 kms across the Sahara, to raise money for Mencap UK and the Evangel Children's Home in Hong Kong. 

The event takes place over 6 days - equivalent to 6 regular marathons carrying everything needed for the duration in a rucksack (food, clothes, medical kit, sleeping bag etc). Water is rationed and handed out at each checkpoint.

Every day, Mencap helps thousands of people with a learning disability, their families and carers.  Mencap provides support services and campaigns so that people with a learning disability have equal opportunities to live life the way they want to.

- the Evangel Children’s Home was founded in Hong Kong in 1956 to provide food, shelter, counseling and spiritual guidance to children and young people.
