Story
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
I wanted to enter the Leicester Half Marathon last year but unfortunately the event was fully booked so I missed out. I was disappointed as I had trained and was hoping to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society as I had recently lost my dear auntie and uncle to dementia. My family knew that I was disappointed and suggested I enter the Tough Mudder Challenge then I could raise funds to help my chosen charity in memory of my auntie Hilda and Uncle Howard. To be honest I didn't know what the challenge involved but I agreed to be part of the team which was set up by David Roberts, my partner's brother-in-law. Having looked into it after agreeing to it and signing up - it soon dawned on me especially as the event draws near how challenging this event is both physically and mentally - but I hope by raising money for this good cause will spur me and my team mates on.
Many of you that know me well know that I suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and though the Arthritis Research UK is another charity close to my heart so is the Alzheimer's Society, especially having watched my auntie and uncle live with this condition and the worry and distress it caused them once the disease took hold of them. So the more money we can raise for this charity the better so that we can find a cure to help those that are suffering with this condition now and in the future.
Our team consists of David Roberts, Chris Wesley and myself - we did have a fourth member but unfortunately they had to pull out a few weeks ago so we are still on the lookout for another person to complete our team.
So that's the story so far, I hope you will help me by donating to my just giving page to help fund the research needed to find a cure for Alzheimers.
Thank you x
