Two dozen seasoned members of the Lea Rowing Club will be testing their endurance on the River Great Ouse to raise funds for the Globe Community Project, GCP. These women, average age 62, and men, average age 70, aim to row as far as they can over two days, between 30km and 80km.
GCP supports social cohesion and wellbeing, combating isolation in and around Globe Town in Tower Hamlets:
- providing valuable skills and support to people on low incomes living with chronic pain and/or health conditions
- delivering English-language and community-building projects for women migrants and refugees
- helping disadvantaged older residents to improve their wellbeing, deal positively with ageing, participate more in the community and access support
