Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving site.
This year Swindon Town FC have chosen Hop, Skip and Jump as their Charity of the Year, who are raising funds for a new centre based in Swindon. To start the fundraising efforts for the season two members of club staff Adam Wainwright and Steven Weller took part in this year's Swindon Half Marathon. The pair registered competitive times and were both satisfied with their efforts. However the run is just the start.........
After the successes of cycle rides to Brighton & Hove Albion and Wycombe Wanderers during the 2009/10 season, members of STFC staff will once again be 'saddling up' over the coming weeks and months.
Rides this season will see a 'Hop' to Yeovil Town (saturday 30th October), a 'Skip' to Southampton (Saturday 26th February) and a big 'Jump' to Tranmere Rovers (Saturday 7th May). With five members of staff taking part in the cycle rides, the combined total miles covered will exceed 1,500 once the team arrive at Prenton Park in May 2011.
In preparation for the rides, sponsorship and assistance has already been greatfully received from local firms Mitchell's Cycles and Event Exhibition.
The following members of the STFC 'Off Field Team' will be cycling to Yeovil Town next Saturday 30th October.
Nick Watkins (Chief Executive), Chris Tanner (Media Manager), Adam Wainwright (Matchday & Promotions Executive) and Steve Weller (Community Development Executive).
The quintet will be backed up by a support vehicle driven by Derrick Johnson (Head of Creative & Commercial Design) with Chris 'Word' Smith (Website Editor) providing updates for Town supporters via the official Swindon Town FC Facebook group.
You will also be able to view a video 'Cycle Diary' from the team as well as the Town squad's verdict on the ride on STFC Player soon.
Hop, Skip and Jump is a registered charity and is entirely self-supporting, relying on donations to pay for its highly experienced and qualified staff who provide care and support for children with life limiting life threatening illnesses or any special need, as well as their families and carers.
