Story

Welcome to my fundraising page! From 20th May to 19th June, I will be swimming a total of 10 miles as part of Alzheimer’s UK’s Swim for Dementia challenge.

This is a cause very close to my heart and as soon as I heard about the challenge, I just knew that I had to do it. I love to swim and usually go around 2-4 times per week, but this challenge will require me to up the ante and swim 5-6 times per week.

The pool at my gym, Y Club Manchester, is 18m in length. This means that I will have to swim 894 lengths of the pool in 30 days to complete the challenge!

I will be using Strava to track my swims and my progress, so feel free to follow along (or be my friend, I don’t really know how Strava works).

Any donation will be greatly appreciated, even if you can only spare a couple of quid, it will go a long way to help support those affected by this cruel disease. Thank you!

How are your donations used?

£15 turns four ordinary citizens into superhero Dementia Friends. There is a stigma attached to living with dementia and Dementia Friends facilitates societal change, helping people understand the impact on people’s lives.

£95 provides a telephone-based Dementia Adviser for a full day.

£300 means over 1,700 people can access Talking Point, Alzheimer’s UK’s online forum. Here people can learn from each other's experiences, share their frustrations and their knowledge of local services.
