Story

Maddie’s story:

“In May of this year I was diagnosed with Stage 3B melanoma, I really wasn’t prepared to be given a cancer diagnosis at the age of 19, but the support that Cancer Fund for Children has given me, my family and my friends has been an absolute lifeline.”

Maddie Gillespie has been a key member of the Swim Belfast family her whole life. She learnt to swim at Templemore, taught the next generation of swimmers at Swim Belfast, and is the friendly face that opens the door at 6am in Lisnasharragh. Maddie was born into the Swim Belfast family by Ross, head coach of the club, and this year it will be our goal to support her through her challenging journey.

Please donate to “ensure that children and young people don’t have to face cancer alone.”
