Story
Deck the halls everyone...
Almost as soon as the Christmas lights are turned on in Oxford Street, I'm telling you all about a wee little run I'm doing in aid of one of my favourite charities.
The Christmas references aren't as out of place as they seem; it's a Santa Run. Yeah.
Yep, I'll be donning some sort of Santa outfit - I'm hoping just hat - and most definitely not the belly that shakes like a bowlful of... you get the idea.
The Christmas thing is pretty irrelevant, except that it's taking place on 5th December and it could be snowy!
(I'm beginning to really regret this now; it's only 5km but at least the marathon is in April.)
I should use this space to explain a little about Amnesty International and why I'm running for them; don't feel I should have to but I am running with a particular person in mind.
U Win Htein is serving a 14 year sentence in Myanmar (Burma) merely for the peaceful exercise of his freedom of expression and association, working with the National League of Democracy that is peacefully campaigning against the strict military junta in charge of the country. He is an ordinary person doing extraordinary things for people in his country; things I could never imagine doing or would ever have to do.
I'd love it if you could support me in this silly run to help such a phenomenal organisation. It's a nice thing we can all do in the run up to Christmas, eh?
Ha ha... the Christmas cheese. I went there.
Thank you, sleigh bells ring-a-ding etc...
Love Suzi
