Suzanne Owen: A parachute jump was a long held ambition for me, until I flew in an airplane for the first time (when I was about 18) and discovered that I hate flying! A parachute jump lost its attraction very quickly, and I focused on other ambitions like seeing the pyramids. Last year a close friend did a parachute jump for charity and really enthused about it, awakening my interest in doing it myself - despite the fact that I still dislike flying. Now that the opportunity for me to do it has presented itself, I am keen to have a go - not only for the accomplishment of the feat itself, but also for the opportunity to raise money for the Access to Care scheme, which I feel passionate about, since it enables those to come to Burrswood who have not the personal means to afford it. We long for more Access to Care money all the time, this is my chance to add to the pot!Sue Pople: I wanted to do something different this year to celebrate a rather significant birthday, and working with patients in the Hospital and Outpatients has given me a great heart for our Access to Care scheme. I thought why not combine the birthday celebrations with a sponsored parachute jump!
I have always enjoyed a challenge, having recently experienced white water rafting and having completed the London Marathon in 2007, so I clearly needed to raise the bar! I am really looking forward to the 3rd October and would greatly value your support!
